Here, have a look at the continuing delusion of the political representatives of Unionism in the 6 counties

This is from Billy Armstrings personal website:
Ulster Unionist member for Mid-Ulster
Note the part where he says :
Free elections.
From the creation of the state of Northern Ireland in 1920, general elections to both the Stormont parliament and Westminster were held on the basis of universal suffrage. All of these elections returned a pro-union majority – the state of Northern Ireland, within the UK, existed because of the democratically-expressed wishes of the people of Northern Ireland.
Universal suffrage huh ?
What about Catholics who didn't own property ?

I think it was only council elections were based on property rights, but they were the important ones as far it went to housing allocation etc.
Of course the Unionist govt created undemocratic and unrepresentative state your earlier contribution however wouldn't be very helpful for a political science paper.Originally Posted by rockofcashel
OK Camp, let's ignore the typically inane comments from ROC and treat this request seriously. I would recommend "Politics of Northern Ireland" by Arthur Aughey, Prof. of Politics in Jordanstown - it has a very balanced perspective (I realise it covers a greater period than you require, but it's worth referring to). By the by, where are you studying, if that's not too personal a question?
Ah go on so Chuck .. give us your opinion, was there democracy in the 6 counties in the period under examination
