Kerry North/Limerick West in the next GE

Just wondering of any opinions of this constuiency in the next general election??
Will FG run two candiates? And if they do, will it be it be Jimmy Deenhan and a Tralee candiate or Deenhan and the most likely candiate from Limerick West being Liam Galvin?
What will FF do?? With Niall Collins probaly going to run in Limerick constuiency, it would mark the first time a Collins name not on the GE ballot in Abbeyfeale for a couple of decades. MacEllistrim will be a candiate but who will be his running mate?? Would it be John Brassil as there is no likely candiate from the west Limerick.
Also who would likey win presumally the last seat between Lab and SF? They are both non existant in West Limerick and they both got about the same precentage of vote in the local election in North Kerry. Would a Spring name on the ballot likely swing it to Lab??

Most Tralee people feel that their interests are very poorly served apart from Martin Ferris doing what he can to highlight issues from the opposition benches-it is very likely that he will step aside to allow Toireasa to run. McEllistrim is a disaster but has been working the new area from Limerick very well so is probabaly safe enough.
The FG vote in Tralee is disasterous 10% and Deenihan seems to be making no effort to work the town. A lot of new people in the urban parts on Nth Kerry and many not committed to any party. Jim Finnucane would be a breathe of fresh air and might get cross party support. Tralee needs its own TD

The Sunday Tribune analysis of the local election results indicate that the final seat is between Labour and SF with a tiny advantage for Labour in Kerry North (around 23-21). They have it like this: FG 1 (n/c), FF 1 (n/c), Labour 1 (+1) SF 0 (–1).

A constituency review sees Newcastle-West remain in Limerick while Abbeyfeale and Glin move out to the new Kerry North/West Limerick constituency. Fine Gael has a quota and Jimmy Deenihan would keep his seat. Fianna Fáil also has a 25% share of the vote and enough to keep its seat. Labour has a 23% share of the vote in Kerry North compared to Sinn Féin's 21%. That would leave a close battle between the likely candidates, Arthur Spring from Labour and Sinn Féin's Toireasa Ferris, for a seat, with Labour shading it based on the 5 June figures.

30% is not bad, Tralee was never considered an FG stronghold. FG have 2 councillers in the Tralee LEA and a couple on the UDC. Therefore not " disasterous" as stated above.

Local election votes are incredibly personalised at the best of times. Both Grace O'Donnell and Mairead Fernanne would have acquired voted that reflect their community work-it would necessarily translate into GE votes. Equally Jim Finnucane's vote for County Council reflects his standing in the business community and transcends party boundaries, hence he would be a good GE candidate

I agree. AJ will be unmasked as a lightweight in my opinion. TF is worth five arthurs. If the FF vote collapses maybe he'll get McEllistrim's seat. Why would anyone from Limerick vote for T Mac ? He's the worst type of useless FFer. I also agree that Jimmy has done little or nothing for Tralee. In fact, North Kerry has a bleak economic mid range future. Any bit of industry is closing down, the stupid housing boom is over - Tralee is heading for the 1980's I'm afraid.

As I posted here before AJ's strings are being pulled big time by uncle Dick, I think he still has'nt gotten over the fact that he lost his seat. He begged people to vote for AJ in the locals but I think it wont be long before people see that AJ is very weak and would fit into the same catagory as Tom Mac.

As FF do not have a strong candiate in the West Limerick area to run and the other partys not going to run a candiate from there, should FG run Liam Galvin from Abbeyfeale as he would be the only major candiate from the west Limerick area to run?? He'd also do well in Kerry in places like Brosna, Duagh and Knocknagoshel as they would be in the Abbeyfeale area.
