i reckon fg will make gains here, but then as a supporter I would, strong teams in each of the districts, on a very very good day could make a gain in each district, tipp town and fethard areas would look like the best chances tho
can't see labour having the candidates or the teams on the ground to make the sufficient breakthrough to capitalise on the anti government sentiment
hard to know how far back the ff vote will be, in south tipp the core ff vote is very loyal
Cahir Electoral Area
Fianna Fail -
Tommy Meehan
Andy Moloney
Fine Gael-
Marie Murphy
Liam Ahern
John O´Donnell
Labour -
Seanie Longeran
Sinn Féin -
Kevin Brunnick
Independent -
Dan Costigan
Thats all i can remember off the top of my head. As i can see it Marie Murphy (FG), Andy Moloney (FF) and Seanie Lonergan are safe bets. Dan Costigan should be interesting. Alot of support and very well known with a good election team behind him. Not getting selected by FG myt be the best thing that happened to him also.
Thanks for that An Phoblacht .Any more information on the other electoral areas would be appreciated.
Im not living in South Tipp at the minute so I wouldn´t be up to date with the other areas to be honest.
Cashel Electoral Area
FF
Sean Mc Carthy
Rodger Kennedy
FG
Jack Crowe
Catherine Mc Loughlin
Labour
Paddy Downey
Ind
Tom Wood
Liam Browne
Off the head analysis:
Jack Crowe will top the poll, with Tom Wood Close behind. Both certainties to get elected.
FF only had 34% of the vote last time out, and since then, they have lost their sweeper candidate Joe O Connell and his area. Going on whats happening on the doorsteps at the moment, this points to FF losing one of their two seats. Conventional wisdom says it'll be Kennedy's seat that will be lost.
The favourite to win it will be Mc Loughlin, seeing as she was closest last time out, and FG seem to be on a rise in the polls. However, this is a pretty strong FG area in the first place (Wood would be Independent FG for all intents and purposes, and so was Downey). So I doubt there is much scope for FG to increase their vote by a whole lot. She'll definitely be in scrapping near the end.
Downey changed from FG to Independent last time out, and will now run for Labour. It's no more than a flag of convenience as Paddy is FG through and through, only running independent because he was denied a place on the FG ticket last time out. I imagine he is hoping that the rise in Labour poll numbers will help his fpv rise, but then there was/is no huge natural Labour vote in the constituency.
I'll stop there.

Not sure if Greens or SF have a candidate in the race
there are still only five seats
mick fitz will probably top the poll and should get in
after that its a bit of a lottery, with so many candidates, its going to be a transfers game i feel
I see from the cashel electoral area that sf are listed as not contesting the area which is surprising to say the least.can we assume from this that roc and sf have a pact and that roc is in effect a proxy sf candidate.
Mick Fitz (FG) will top the poll
Joe Donovan (FF) - Aherlow vote
Mick Maguire (FF) - Lattin/Emly vote
Denis Leahy (Ind) - Tipp Town
Christy Kinahan (Ind) could be vulnerable, but should make it
