    Waterford Co Council Elections 2009

can fg hold their 11 seats? will FF improve on the poor showing of 2004? can labour hold their 4 seats?

Tramore is now a seven seater and dungarvan is reduced to 6 seats? how will this impact on things?

former TD ollie wilkinson has entered the race in Dungarvan. will this help or hinder FF?

    INTERESTING TIMES AHEAD

FG should hold the seats they have, its thought that Nugent might be under pressure in Dungarvan and either Coffey or Green in the Kilmac area, but they should hold on.

Conway Ind could gain seat in Tramore.

Wilkinson could rock the boat in Dungarvan, he may actually lose votes for FF and cause some revolt among FF diehards.

FG will be undr serious pressure to hold all 4 cllrs in City - however they def will return more than FF who only have 1 at the moment

    Waterford Co Council Elections 2009

former TD ollie wilkinson got 1900 votes in the general election in dungarvan i feel he good do well in june,

untill the full line up in tramore is know it is to hard to call .

the new six-seat Comeragh electoral area has many new faces selected for ff,should make things interesting

lismore should return 2 seats for ff.

john o'leary and mj ryan will win for ff in the new comeragh area. fine gael will hold their 3 seats with a very strong team of brasil, coffey and greene. ger barron will also win here for labour. tom cunningham from stradbally must be disappointed at being overlooked for a nomination.

lismore should remain 2 ff and 2 fg, although a better bet for ff would be if ollie wilkinson stood in this area. bernard leddy would be in with a real chance if he stood as an independent (a REAL independent!)

dungarvan should be interesting. fg will find it difficult to hold 3 but they have a good team in higgins, geoghan and nugent and walsh, who is based in helvick. lab and sf have 3 seats between them, so one of these could be under pressure, but none of them wil be easy to shift
a possible gain for ff, but it would seem that wilkinson is seen as a carpet-bagger and should brace himself for a backlash from the voters. probably will see a number of independent ff'ers in the race. very hard to call dungarvan

strong independent running in comeragh area.
michael flynn from a strong farming background in rathgormack is contesting. cllr mary greene (fg) certainly wont welcome his candidacy on her doorstep. he is a brother of well-known horse trainer pat flynn and could do some damage without being elected!

apparently cllr bernard leddy to run independent in lismore. Great chance of taking a seat from ff!
maybe ollie wilkinson will re-consider his decision to run in dungarvan??

ff hq have made a complete hames of candidate selection!

after tonight's opinion poll, i wonder is b leddy sorry that he left labour and ran to cullen and ff?
he would be a shoo-in for a labour seat this time! alas its not to be!
