Is there a full schedule of events for the year?
I dunno, it could be excellent. All depends if the good citizens of Cork give a ************************ or not. Could be spectacular. Could be ************************. It all up to you.
I just hope yez don't make a show of us in front of the world!![]()

I'm sure I read somewhere that Cork's art gallery will be closed for the entire culture year for repairs.
Can anyone confirm this?
It would be easier if Ireland wasn't so Dublin centric. Is there a full schedule of events for the year?

I remember a news item on RTE national tv news saying that Donegal airport airport would soon be having an extra service every week.
That was it, they didn't say where this new service was going to or coming from.
I was wondering why, when it dawned on me that, of course, it would be a plane from/to Dublin.
I mean, where else?
Which one? Crawford or Glucksman?I'm sure I read somewhere that Cork's art gallery will be closed for the entire culture year for repairs.
Can anyone confirm this?

Is this City of Culture really a big thing. My understanding is that the new procedure means that every country gets to host it in turn and no city can hold it twice so the host cities will become more obscure with time, ergo Cork hosts it this year having been picked ahead of those European cultural hubs Galway, Waterford and Limerick.
Though who can forget the spectacular show put on in 2000 by (deep breath): Avignon, Bergen, Bologna, Brussels, Helsinki, Krakow, Reykjavik, Prague and Santiago de Compostela as joints hosts.
Well i went to see the awakening ceremony on Saturday and thought it was spectacular. Hopefully its a sign of things to come
