    Clare candidates for Seanad Elections

Last night at the request of Clare CDC delegates, Brendan Daly accepted the nomination to go infront of the FF parlimentary party for a candidature to run for Seanad Éireann. Sen. Daly was reluctant to take the nomination as he felt it was time for someone new to represent Clare in the Oireachtas but also accepted that West Clare could not be left without representation in the Oireachtas. With no west Clare individual coming forward, Brendan accepted the nomination.

Cllr. Pat Daly tonight is looking for a nomination from the GRA to run on the Labour panel. I wish him every success. If you (reading this) or someone you know has a vote at this meeting tonight would you please look after (or ask them to do so as the case may be) Pat tonight.

Any other Co. Clare politicians going forward at this date. It would be nice to see Clare boost its number of people in Leinster House up from 6........as long as that doesn't come back to haunt Clare FF in the future that is!!!

Dear God I hope not! These aren't just my feelings but also those of many FGers in Clare I've spoken to on the matter.

Pat Daly FF & John Crowe FG, looks like Clare won't have a Senator?

Hardly surprising, didn't you say you're in Pat Breen's parish?

I am but it wasn't any of his people I was quoting. I won't go any further with it. That's an internal FG thing. Something I'm not even gonna try to pretend to know anything about.

After the results being counted we're left down 2 oireachtas members for the next 5 years. Poor showing and there's no one in line for a Taoiseach's nomination (well, very outside chance of GP's Meaney but I believe he's about 7th on their pecking order so that's a no go). Is the future bleak for politics in Clare with no clear advancers in sight, or were our lads unfairly booted by the Seanad electorate or is there someone in the shadows that might be a possibility for the future?????
