    Local Elections next - when?

When are local elections due? I felt the General Election canvassing was poor. Could'nt get any real issues raised with those that did call. I'm only waiting for the local hopefuls , will it be two years?
Do we need County Councillors? What power do they wield. It seems that the bureaucrats and "public" servants do what they want. I wrote to and emailed local co. councillors, including the beast from star wars, J**bba the H**, on an issue, not earth shaking. Number of replies received = zilch!! At least the penpushers in county hall had the decency to reply.[/img]

Seems to me that Co. Councillors wield far more power than your average backbench T.D. to be honest. They have very important role in formulating County Development Plans which is entirely a reserved function of the members. They also have a lot of say in how funds are disbursed for things like public amenities, playgrounds etc. and determining priorities for spending on non-national roads.

The same except Dublin down to 3 seats.
