    BBC Iran Propaganda

Crowd of Ahmadinejad supporters = Crowd of Mousavi supporters

Current version of article changes caption and notes shoddy journalism.

Marxists, Feminists and Leftists operate on the basis of "liberating tolerance" - i.e. their ideas should be tolerated, and any opposition should be suppressed.

The cynicism of the news graphics professional knows no boundaries.

That's very poor from the BBC. I note that the copyright is Getty Images and so the picture may have been altered before the BBC received it. Also, with the shut down on western media reporting it's difficult to know what's really going on.

However, it pains me to say that this is inexcusable from any perspective.

The beeb used to be quite good at the old propagnda and because they were good at it the other stations had to up their game a bit...

Now standards have fallen so low at the beeb that it almost seems like they're not really trying. Grainy footage of crowds that could be in support of the local footie team for all we know. And the same people cropping up again and again. I've seen one young woman with a "Where's my vote ?" placard (thoughtfully she's written it in English rather than Farsi, in crowd scenes over several days on SKY...

Was watching the other day and pro Mousavi protests were described as being multitudinous and some footage of about 8 or 9 masked youths and a few burning tyres were shown in support of this assertion.

And the pro Ahmadinejad march we were told had "tens of thousands" at it. No shots of the crowd here, only footage of the pres on a platform looking mental. Subtle.

And why are we being treated to this crap?? Ahmadinejad is off cosying up to the other lot, Russia, China et al and we can't have that can we???

    Not when he has oil.

A few reports said that yesterday's demonstration was 100,000, which is small in relation to previous ones. Nobody can deny that the streets have been packed in the last few days. It is just not the cardboard cutout version the BBC would like to pass us off with.

Looking at Press TV, the official Iranian English language satellite channel, i get the impression they have come to some sort of compromise, with the video showing the depredations of rioters and the rolling ticker tape announcing where the next banned demonstration will be held. Presumeably ths is because to run an English language channnel you need a team of feisty, upmarket, urban women, even if your pupose in life is to express the official line.
