Michael Woods on Marian Finucane Show This Morning

    Rachel English sitting in...

Can anyone believe the ignorance and denial coming out of this guy over his "sweatheart deal" with the criminals responsible for the abuse of kids?

    Viz:

    - It's not the Church, it's just the 18 religious orders, stop blaming the Church.
    - People don't appreciate the contribution the Church made
    - It was the Brits fault - no violence in CB schools originally.
    - Institutions were not funded properly...

Honest to God- how can RTE have such an unbalanced performance without anyone countering it.

The part at the end when asked about the people criticizing his was basically a two-fingers - "good luck to them."

If we can put aside the angry mob mentality for a second, Michael Woods gave a good account of the other side of the situation; a side a lot of people don't want to hear about because it goes against their Church prejudices.

I'm sorry I missed that one. I was wondering if Woods was going to be coaxed out of the shrubbery to give his opinion on his misdeeds.

But the response I'm reading surprises me not a bit. Woods is feeble-minded coward who shafted the taxpayer in favour of the Church. He should be ostracised from society and treated like the pathetic, hypocritical leper he is.

I think Woods should be in jail himself for striking a deal on behalf of the state that ran counter to the interests of the people.
Clearly he was acting in the interest of the Church, and his Opus Dei and Knights of Columbanus pals instead.
This country will ever be a corrupt little backwater while people are not held account for their corrupt actions. Woods should be jailed for the deal he struck. So should Burke for giving away our national resources. Instead we give them big pensions.
I see no reason for the state not to tear up the indemnity they signed with the Church. It is not the taxpayers' responsibility to compensate victims but the Church's. Will they refuse to do so? If so, send the gardai in to strip every church in the land of their gold and silver goblets, send the CAB in to freeze their accounts, and start selling off their land.
Please sign the petition to establish a national day of celebration in honour of the vision of the United Irishmen!

No, he didn't. In fact, it was his pro-church bias, and outright incorrectness on a number of points - the myth these institutions were starved of funds, etc - and the inability of RTE to balance the arguments that marks out his contribution as nothing but contempt for those abused. A smug contribution from a fool who knows his confederates have got away with it.
