Nob Nation asked to ease off Cowen - Sindo report

    According to the Sindo….
RTE tells Nob Nation 'go easy' on Cowen over personal jibes - National News, Frontpage - Independent.ie

Following publication of a letter in the Sunday World, Oliver Callan’s Nob Nation piece for the following day was not broadcast by the Gerry Ryan Show.

Siobhan Hough, Ryan’s producer emailed Callan to explain why she hadn’t broadcast his piece. The Sunday World letter was published under the headline: "You are treating the crisis like you have just farted in a crowded room, yet leave as if it has nothing to do with you."

Hough felt that it might be construed that Callan had a political axe to grind and that his increasingly vulgar impersonations of Cowen could be construed as politically motivated, rather than just normal run-of-the mill political satire.
Hough also stressed that they had had no complaints from Fianna Fail, but asked Callan to ease off a bit on Cowen and spread the manure a bit more across the opposition benches.

The conspiracy theorists will be absolutely certain that the Ryan Show was “got at” by the Government.

However, in light of the recent volte face by Ryan on the salary cut, doubtless helped in making that decision by the almost universally negative comments about him in public and in other media, the last thing Ryan needs right now is to give RTE management another big stick to beat him with.

Does Nob Nation give Cowen an unfairly hard time or an overly gross representation?

If it wasn't so bloody sad it might be funny! Cowen is way out of his dept (going forward) and is aded by the Incompetent from Donegal (I have to say) and an inept Finance Minister (clearly). He tries to drag the opposition into his fixing scheme while at the same time telling that he will run the show his way!

What is laughable but in a sick sort of way is an overpaid goon on a radio show talking balderdash to a listenership who pay an outrageous licence fee for a miserable service. That applies to Tubridy and CO. also

The we have rock musicians lecturing us on other issues while the dosk is offshore anf d no tax is paid here.

Added to the bleatings of tighten our belts and "we are in this together"

    Knob nation is right!

So the only time the appalling Nob Nation gets 'accused' of cutting satire is when Newstalk have just come out with their own program....

Put away all the sharp implements in your house and lock up any medications!

So you'd say that the free bananas distributed at the recent green Party conference were the new symbol of our great Republic?

I would suggest that the Ryan Show wouldn't need to be 'got at' since Gerry has never made any secret of his relationship with the Taoiseach and Minister for Finance.

Sio is it appalling because it pulls the pi** out of the baffoons, sorry i mean government that run this excuse for a country ?
    Banana republic indeed.
Scrap Saturday part deux anyone ?
Perhaps if Callan acted more like Bertie's publicist otherwise known as giftgrub Mario Resenstock it would be viewed more favourably ?
Giftgrub did more for bertie's popularity than his cosy relationship with the sindo rag.

BTW chcek out the Emergency on youtube.

Was 'The Emergency' on Newstalk any good as I didn't wake up in time to hear it?

    Sindo:
... his increasingly controversial portrayal of Brian Cowen as a drunken buffoon "might be perceived to be a bit personal at this stage".

Surely Sindo is not suggesting that this is too close to the bone?

indeed, it spoke volumes that the Bert was said to be a huge Gift Grub fan.
Rosenstock always deflected the criticism by claiming that it wasn't supposed to be biting political satire a la Rory Bremner.
But he helped cultivate the cuddly jack-the-lad Bertie myth.
I think Bill Hicks said it best when he called people like this "suckers of satan's c**k"

Nob nation are frankly brilliant and this is just another example of FF exercising their control over the nation's media. They absolutely rip into government ministers and opposition alike with Enda Kenny and "Moan" Burton getting special attention.

    Have a look yourselves:
    RTÉ - Nob Nation

(Liveline polls skit is especially funny)

    Some examples of FF hacks:
Tubridy's brother is FF member and likely local election candidate.
Miriam O'Callaghan's brother was FF candidate in Dublin 2007 General Election
Gay Byrne's appointment to Road Safety Autthority earner him a few nice extra bob

The government were great with putting out personal smears against FG leaders, Enda "The plank" Kenny, Michael "baldy" Noonan but cannot take any slagging themselves. It is frankly pathetic.
