    Village Magazine Back?

I thought Village went under a few months ago, but now there's a new
version of it on the shelves, with the Cowen/Obama hybrid on the cover.

    What gives?

Vincent Browne had to hand over control of the title, and supply a free monthly column, as part of his deal with the barrister Michael Smith (he of planning corruption reward fame), to whom he owed money as the main creditor of the old title. Smith has revived the title but changed the style of the magazine. A publicity stunt of offering 10K for information on the sources of Libertas' funding is the main talking point in the new issue, there was a kerfuffle about it here on a thread yesterday...

Publicity stunt? Just look what a can of worms it opened in the planning corruption arena!

Michael Smith is clearly a man who understands that a €10k reward may well repay itself a thousand times over. Here's hoping he's right and the new Village gets to shine a light on the worms and maggots under the Libertas rock. Several on p.ie already.

It is a publicity stunt, though I grant you that this doesn't neccesarily mean it would be a fruitless one (though I doubt it will be)...
