Simon Coveney and David Begg on Q & A

Here we had the ultimate showdown. Coveney, another one of Richard Bruton's sexy young protégés could not possibly lose this one. He represented the future. A modern well educated man in an expensive suit from a political background. He stood for enterprise, hard work, common sense and an end to this disasterous pay deal which was dragging down Ireland's finest and dearest- the business owners. His party was riding the crest of a wave, sweeping all before them with their brand new dream team.

Begg on the otherhand was just a washed up old union bureaucrat presiding over the decline of trade unionism. He was completely outdated in absolutely everything from his beard to his views on pay structures. There was nothing to do but to sit back and watch the massacre unfold.

There's already a thread on Q&A why do we need a second?
