I'm sure with their increasing sales, they mourn your loss. This is right up there with the Skibbereen Eagle and Russia.

All those opposed to PCness should rejoice were this publication to cease. While in favour of a plurality of political-ideologies being represented in the national media, the IT has too much influence on our politicians, especially in terms of being soft on crime, and illegal immigration, as well as being out of touch on the EU. The IT would appear to be the Bible of Leinster House but of only a dwindling number outside it.
Agree 100%. I'm delighted it is in trouble. If the massive loss making rag The Sunday Tribune were to cease, that would be excellent as well. Those two papers are nauseating with their right on PC rubbish. The Irish Times should be seen for what it is. Essentially it is a regional paper for South Dublin.
I would much rather that News/Media was neutral and presented the reader
with actual information rather that pissing around with personalities,
cronies and fluff. I.T is light on information; and as someone else said
heavy on advertising. People buy newspapers specifically to get
information, not scary bed-time stories or nursery rhymes by the
terminally incapable. It is suffering from provincialism, who else would
employ Breda O Brien for her opinion?

So you want the IT to be taken over by Sir Tony's arch nemesis? That's a good idea...I wonder what kind of editorial line it would take? Hmmmm
Give me a break.
The IT, thank f**k, is not owned by a corporation but instead, is owned by a trust - like the Guardian in the UK. It makes for a better paper as it is surely the best way to ensure the paper's independence.
I'm sorry that the IT is in trouble. IMO it's the best paper in Ireland - the archive is amazing (I was looking up the front pages from the 1860s recently), the features are ususally excellent and the columnists, despite what people seem to be saying here, have vastly differing political perspectives.
TCH and INM own practically every paper that is published in Ireland. It's unhealthy and I hope the IT, and the trust, endure.
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.
