Evening Echo shows the way with bilingual Oireachtas supplement

Cork's Evening Echo is showing the way forward as far as the Irish language in the print media is concerned. Today it published, without the aid of a Foras na Gaeilge grant, an eight page pull out full colour bilingual supplement on Oireachtas na Gaeilge, the premier Irish language cultural festival which gets underway in Cork on Sunday. The paper publishes a weekly Irish language page, Scéalta ó Mhúscraí, and this latest venture indicates that there is a way forward for the Irish langauge in the print media at a time when otherwise prospects look bleak.
