Finally someone in Irish media questions "celebrity charity campaigner" Adi Roche on the true extent of and legacy of Chernobyl and appropriateness of bringing sick but relatively well off kids here while poor black kids starve to death in Africa.
I watched a programme on BBC called "cooking in the Danger zone" where some chef travels to war zones and disaster areas around world cooking local produce etc. He was suprised( finding his innate BBC liberal and probably green views challenged) to find locals had no problem consuming produce from the Chernobyl area and found people actually living in the exclusion zone who never left despite most of their neighbours leaving in the panic (and under central communist orders). The local mayor was filmed out picking mushrooms to eat in a forest near Chernobyl, and despite the mushrooms tested containing 8 times the supposed "safe" levels of radiation the mayor dismissed his concerns and ate them!
