And in 1978 when RTE started, everyone got the benefit of the Ned Stapleton Cumman's communist love affair with an almost interminable series on World War 2 from a Soviet propaganda viewpoint. I'm just surprised that nobody decided to invade RTE and demand better programming. But cable television saved things. Even with only BBC1/2/HTV (The Welsh ITV), there was a lot more to watch. Perhaps that saved RTE from thousands of angry kids.

And of course Charles Mitchell (whose grave I accidentally stood on when visiting a cemetery lately. Sorry Charles!) And of course Deirdre Purcell and Anne Doyle reading the news!
Strange how much changes in RTE.

Lovely trip down "whatever you may call it lane"
But back to the original thread:
maybe it would be a good idea to post up examples of this "double-Speak" as they occur.
Something tells me there is going to be a hell of a lot of them over the coming months,

It would be interesting to compare how different media sources headline and report the same story.
That would show Who's on what side of whatever fence.

Of course past and recent examples of blatant economy of truth in reporting would also be good to see.

dustin was the only man for me when it came to ripping the piss out of gardai patrol.
