Popular Irish Politics Discussion Board Offline- Hacking Suspected
Those fools at idiotmedia were obviously delighted at politics.ie's unfortunate situation and took a number of swipes at this sites members and Great Leader, David Cochrane:
It's even being claimed that partners of the predominantly male users of the site are receiving more attention than usual, although talk of a "politics.ie blackout baby boom" might somewhat premature. The owner of the site, Mr. David Cochrane, runs it in a whimsical fashion, banning users and moderating according to his own views. The site is enormously popular, and has many devoted users. A recent real-world meet up in a bar in County Dublin attracted more than a hundred people. Some users, however, have been less than happy with the site, with many arguments raging about treatment of discussions on immigration issues, gay rights, the Mahon tribunal, etc. A longtime technical manager of politics.ie left recently, and there have been fierce rows about bullying and underhand tactics in moderation.I tried to post on that thread (a number of times) sarcastically contrasting the, eh, 'different' moderation styles of politics.ie and the idiotmedia 'collective': basically I called them Stalinist in their approach to free debate. Needless to say, any such post was deleted. Quickly. Many political parties (notably the Greens) use the site to leak information, and others use the anonymity of the bulletin board forum to plant rumours and smear opponents.
Idiotmedia is an abomination: the 'collective' quite obviously resent the very existence of forum such as politics.ie, were issues are discussed with considerably more candor. If free-speech in the wider world was rather like idiotmedia, then those so-called 'antifascist' middle-class boneheads that prevented David Irving to speak would turn Ireland into something that resembles East Germany that-was.
Is there any site that monitors or comments on Idiotmedia? Like 'Indymedia-watch', or something? People like 'Chekov' Feeny and his 'Collective' need to be brought to account for this abomination of free-speech on the internet.
