You were asleep when the EU forced Ireland into an unwanted and extremely expensive bailout where you ? On Holidays when the EU (AKA Germany) destroyed the Greek economy (and isnt Iceland doing well these days after it actually burned bond holders) and have missed the imperious tones of the EU in the Brexit negotiations have you , and didnt read the newspaper to find out about the EUs tacit acceptance of smashing peaceful voters in Catalonias, heads by the Spanish Government ......

But youre right , history proves a Europe under German hegemony and control has nothing to fear ...

Does this mean that the Irish Times, the Independent and RTE are in trouble? Will each of them have an official EUnuch kommissar in their newsroom approving items for publication?

No. It means that they are going to be officially approved with a rubber stamp by the nEU empire.

An unelected executive can't be expected to support democratic values like diversity of opinion.

The Commission's powers to initiate legislation should be taken away and transferred to the Council of Ministers. That would free up the Commission to enforce existing EU law, which are most laws.

I saw the Six One news piece on the proposed legislation on unaccompanied drivers, they went with the story of a mother who lost her daughter to a collision with a L driver and then included 10 seconds of a Healy Rae squawking as counterargument and then finished with a 'This will make a difference to future children like XXXX'.

A blatant and very basic 'please think of the children' totally skewed report and you see it all the time on RTE.

We may get to a point where 'reality' is whatever you're willing to pay for it.

I would love to see them do this for corporations, extremist groups, foreign states, lobby groups and political parties and public individuals of all persuasions.
It might even lead to our citizenry making intelligent voting decisions from now on.
It would need iron-clad safeguards of course and it would rapidly need to show that is in non-partisan and doesn't hold to German or French national interests either.
    Seriously
How you can see it implemented?
    • Make a law obliging every Russian to wear in Internet 'yellow star'? I know one guy who tried it 80 years ago, when he was trying to make another version of European Union and it didn't finish well for him
    • Create a massive EU Disinformation Centre with thousands of staff and millions of funding, which will try to find fake news in Russia? Ukrainians tried it on Soros money with their Stopfake and it finished digging through blogs without any subscribers, because nobody will play fake facts when you can twist real ones
    • Mark every news outlet, which disagrees with EU propaganda, like Washington Post did? Didn't work well for them
    • Create some kind of EU version of Soros funded Snopes? After their left wing bias have been exposed, only hardcore liberals will take it seriously
    • Create ministry of Truth with massive army of own pro-EU trolls, like Ukrainians did? It was fun and finished badly for them, so they had to dissolve Army, before it become laughing stock for whole world
    • Create a massive body, which will try to keep a balance and check every media for fake news? Looks like it might solve problem with youth unemployment, but what you are going to do with fired for incompetency journalists, which wont be able to find jobs in real word

And this is from very quick thought. Imagine what will happen if trolls from 4chan will get some info about it and then you will learn how dangerous is to underestimate power of autists

You do realize that the Commission is acting (in part) in response from calls from the EU parliament, right?

In June 2017, the European Parliament more explicitly called for the commission to analyze the legal framework that currently apply to fake news and its countermeasures and to investigate possible legislative solutions.

Thats the EU parliament with a lower mandate and turnout than the Catalunyan referendum vote ...which is allegedly invalid due to lack of voter turnout ..that unrepresentative sham Parliament ?
