I finally received this rambling, pseudo-legal, gibberish response to the complaint I made to Political Irish relating to my account being hijacked.

    My complaint:

    To Admin,

I created an account on the Political Irish website with the username 'Black Swan' on Saturday the 7th of November 2015, which I was informed had been banned shortly afterwards.

I received an email to the address I used to create the account on Wednesday the 12th of April 2017, informing me that the account was still active.

I was able to perform a password reset, regain control of the account and log in.

I found that someone other than myself had been using the account to post on the Political Irish forum, from around November 2015 until around April 2017.

I would like to get to the bottom of this matter.

Please contact me within 7 days with any relevant information.

    Regards,

    Black Swan

    Their response:

    Without prejudice

    Dear Sir,

    Thankyou for your email.

We have reviewed your email and have taken steps to check all our
    security features on the site.

Due to abnormal behavior on the account Black Swan we took the action
to ban the account and subsequently remove the account from our site
as is common practice with any account that demonstrates abnormal
behavior in accordance with out site terms and conditions and rules of
    service.

We consider the security of the site highly important and we are
constantly looking at ways to improve site security, we do however
request all members do their part and not to share passwords or choose
passwords that are easily accessible or easily identifiable. We would
also recommend choosing a password different to other passwords used
on other sites. If using public internet we would recommend logging
off your account when not in use.

Naturally we do take all reports of security breaches carefully and we
would urge all members to change their own passwords and check their
information regularly regardless of what site they visit.

As part of our site security we provide users with Two-Step
Verification, we would strongly urge all members to avail of this
    feature.

Two-step verification, also known as two-factor authentication,
requires you to provide two pieces of information to login. The
general form is expressed as "something you know and something you
have". "Something you know" is your password. "Something you have" is
the new part. You may have seen this with other services, such as
Google accounts. If you're familiar with that, you'll understand how
    it works on Political Irish.

Two-step verification is something a user has to opt into sometime
after they have registered. Enabling it increases security at the
expense of a more complex login procedure. For many
users--particularly ones that just lurk or only have a few posts--the
"value" of their account is low so the cost may outweigh the benefit.
However, for privileged users, the extra security should be worthwhile.

When you've enabled two-step verification, you will login with your
username or email and password as normal. Once those are verified, we
will determine if two step verification is needed. If so, you'll need
to take the appropriate steps to complete that. Upon receiving that
verification, you'll be logged in as normal.

Currently we can not find any account associated with the email you
provided in your email to us.

    Regards

    Political Irish

I'm not convinced that this issue is being taken seriously.

I don't have time to move from Politic.ie as I have to fight the glowbull warmer hysteric. However it is only to be expected that fake news in all its forms would move into Irish social media. I was banned from the Journal.ie for for asking voters to abstain form voting

I'm going to have to report it to the relevant authorities.

The fact that the account I created was back in circulation just weeks after it had supposedly been perma-banned, has led me to suspect some form of misconduct involving the operators of the site.

Their response to my complaint hasn't inspired confidence that the matter was taken seriously.
