Is it logical or fair to tax small businesses like this?
I've never paid a TV license and I won't be paying this extortion racket either.
    RTE can swing.

This tax is just a way of maintaining the BS that is RTE a channel I rarely if ever watch when in Ireland.. because it mostly has american films and english programming which I can get through SKY/Virgin......

    I hope RTE sinks.

    LOL, good article here.

Whether you've a telly or not, it will be fascinating to watch them trying to enforce this... - Independent.ie

I wonder how much of our money they'll squander trying to enforce this obvious scam?

Fund one tv channel and one radio channel and leave advertising to the private sector.

When you buy a laptop you fill out a form or the shop does, even online, and lo behold they have your data and bill you every year.

Or... just make the content and let private TV stations pick it up. Pay for Nationwide and 6.1 News to be made and give it free to the likes of Netflix and TV3 to show. There is no need to use the license fee to pay for Friends reruns or 'New Years Eve' shows aimed at a demographic who are already dead.

I read in the SBP yesterday how RTE is considering tendering for the right to collect the licence fee next time it comes up?
To take the contract from an Post?
