Trump is a buffoon. But the Irish media's craven and uncritical lionising of Clinton is merely further evidence of their inability in the round to think independently and critically. I mean where was the sustained criticism of Coveney for his ludicrous first time buyers' (read builders') subsidy.
A lot of the anti-trump crowd are really just a feminist borg, it didn't matter how unfit for office Hillary is, the borg wanted its woman president and it wants it now, no waiting around another four years, oh no, we want it now or we'll scweam and scweam and scweam!
Any kid who ever went to national school remembers the rhyme about patience is a virtue have it if you can, always in a woman never in a man, you might call that desperate sexist programming, and the borg rejects it utterly, showing us that there are now significant numbers of very very angry woman not only in America, but also here now in Ireland, women who have bought into some kind of independence which is really just rebellion against any kind of authority that they themselves have not 'chosen', many of the borg are infected with a virulent misandry which makes it all the more mysterious that they are in relationships with men who are totally blind to the misandry in their home infecting their lives.

The Clintons were friends of this country, that is they got involved here especially in the Peace process. So it is right that they were supported. But Mr Trump owns a Golf course here, and has helped out also.
I hope the media respect the US vote- but I doubt it. The ex Dem left control a lot of it. And one feature of the ex Democratic left is their dislike of the US and US politics. And their love of all things British.
I could not imagine them slagging of say Theresa May or Prince Charles for example.

    2. Why do you give a fnck what the Irish media thinks of US politicians?
    2. There are very vulnerable people out there who need to be protected from pornojournalism masquerading as newsworthy comment.

Maybe they were actually thinking "critically and independently".

If Trump is, as you claim, a "buffoon" , well his election to the most powerful office in the world is very serious indeed and is bound to cause some media concern--as it seems to have caused some concern in the wider community.

You can hardly blame the media for preferring any candidate but the "buffoon" candidate.

"Buffoon" is your own description, by the way.

Dinny is the boss of both the media and FG. Coincidence that he and the Clinton Foundation are connected.
Old pals act in full swing but the internet is not fooled as we witnessed in the US election.

It's not just an anti-Trump thing, the problem is with journalism itself. Our journalists have forgotten that their role is to factually report news, and instead now see themselves as opinion formers, based on their belief that they hold the right opinions on all matters and know what is best for us. Where they ever got the idea that their opinions are of any more value than the opinions of the rest of the population quite escapes me.

I suspect that this trend is based on their wish to be the people who make the news, but they're not willing to put in the work needed to ever be real news makers. I confidentally predict that the news media will soon be dominated by the mutual reporting of the opinions of journalists by their colleagues.
