    Saturday with Claire Byrne

I always look forward to Claire's show

A little of her background - profile per nkmanagement.ie
Claire is a radio and television broadcaster with the national service provider RTÉ where she specialises in current affairs programmes.

Claire presents the brand new show Claire Byrne Live on Monday nights on RTÉ One and RTÉ News Now. The hour-long current affairs programme features a live studio audience, along with a new set, graphics and some additional features. Previously she was part of RTÉ’s flagship current affairs programme Prime Time which brings in-depth analysis of current issues and topical reports for two years.

Claire currently hosts a current affairs programme on Saturday afternoon called Saturday with Claire Byrne on RTÉ Radio 1. The topical current affairs show questions agendas and dissects the week gone by along with debating the likely issues of the week to come. She joined the Morning Ireland team on RTÉ Radio 1 as one of the core presenters in the Autumn 2013. Morning Ireland is broadcast each weekday morning and is the top rated radio programme in the Republic of Ireland with an estimated listenership of 467,000 by the Joint National Listenership Survey.

She has also presented The Marion Finucane Show for an extended period and anchored the political show, Late Debate in the run up to the election and also News at One.

A native of Mountrath in County Laois, Claire began her broadcasting career in radio and worked for the BBC in the Channel Islands as a broadcast journalist before becoming News Editor with a Channel 103FM.

Claire returned to Ireland and began working with TV3 as early morning News Anchor with the station's breakfast programme, Ireland AM. Following two and a half years of early starts, editing and producing her own bulletins, she moved to London to take up a position as News Anchor with Channel 5 and the ITN News Channel. It wasn't long before TV3 beckoned once again and Claire returned to Ireland to take up the job of Ireland AM presenter.

From there, she became the main evening News Anchor on TV3, winning the Irish Film and Television Academy's TV Personality of the Year Award and the TV Now Favourite News Anchor Award.

Claire joined Newstalk 106-108 FM in 2006 when the station went national. She spent four years anchoring The Breakfast Show, a current affairs programme.

In 2010, RTÉ came calling and Claire joined the national broadcaster as a presenter on television and radio. Along with presenting current affairs programmes on RTÉ Radio 1 she co-presented The Daily Show, which is a mix of topical discussion, consumer issues and entertainment, on RTÉ One television for 2 years. She also presented Ireland Search and Rescue on RTÉ One in 2012. The series captured real rescues as they unfolded and the bravery of the volunteer and professional crews as they strive to save lives in some of the most terrifying weather conditions. Additionally, presented the Entrepreneur of the Year in India where she accompanied the 24 finalists to a business trip in Mumbai and co-hosted the awards ceremony.
Today's show is about housing, repossessions and the cohort of people who are managing to pay mortages, 300,000 who are on variable rate mortages.

Deserves being decoupled from the Finucane show thread.

I tried doing the same with This Week.
I was attacked accused of being connected to the show.

    Free houses for all!

Someone else can pay! The rich, the banks, the govt. boooo! Make them pay. Boooo.

It was all a trick. I can't read a contract. The media.

Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

I may be wrong, the guests may all bring facts figures and costings, but I very much doubt it.

This is a subject close to her own heart. As she admitted, herself, she had to return to work soon after the birth of her baby as she couldn't afford her mortgage otherwise.

Yes there is. The OP hasn't quoted the whole bio. Don't be looking for a conspiracy where there is none.

    Indeed. She stated

As she is a self-employed person contracted to work for RTE, Claire was entitled to the state maternity benefit, with no employer top-up and, as she jokes, "Celtic Tiger mortgages don't pay themselves."

The OP does not say this. And yes her having worked for Newstalk gives us an idea of where she's coming from.
