    Micheal Martin on Q&A 10/12/07

Is it just me, or is the Panel on Q&A including Bowman deferential towards our good buddy Micheál.

By having soft candidates, Micheal has been elevated and made look better than he could ever have expected.

Bowman spent the night blowing sunshine up Micheal's ass.
Surley FGers and my esteemed colleague Cowan must having noticed the softly softly touchy feely mushy mushy approach to Micheal.

Will this style turn the voters off or on? Do they want to see a tougher side of Martin who'll be a bit more agressive.
Cowardice asks the question - is it safe? Expediency asks the question - is it politic?
Vanity asks the question - is it popular? But Conscience asks the question - is it right?
And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular;but one must take it simply because it is right. -MLK

You know while watching Q&A tonight I noticed that, but figured there wouldn't be much point in mentioning it here, as it would be assumed that I'm biased anyway. But if even the FFers can see just how much extrication work was required post-filming to return Bowman's tongue from whence it came, well that says a lot.....

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.

    Whos on?
Ireland interests are best secured within a more dynamic EU. Vote YES to Lisbon.

Was disappointed that they cut it short just when they were getting into the “is the Celtic Tiger still roaring” debate.

However there was an interesting point raised about urban sprawl and the need for Irish cities to build up instead of outward.

To be honest I think it is more due to the fact that MM is a much more effective media operator that say Dermot Ahern (who never stops interrupting) who was on last week I think and Brian Cowen, who always looks bored to tears b the proletariats that surround Him... and who he must educate with his wisdom. Also, John Bowman is becoming obsessed withthe "will you be a candidate" question to all FFers which MM played very well (obviously expecting it.)

By no means am I a traditional FF man but I’m been honest when I say you could do worse!

If you mean, MM as leader - oh yes! Cowen is bright but not a leader who will have many friends outside FF, not a man for floating voters. (Deep down, I wonder did Bertie think this when he anointed him? No - that couldn't be true!)

MM is the man with an untarnished coat of teflon - watch this space.

I like the genuineness and credibility he presents himself with, unlike many of the others probably with the exception of Bertie I would recognize the “one of our own” notion people may get from him.

Forget all else but it's this quality that wins candidates elections!
