Moronic 'Irish' Sun insulting German nation

Did anyone see the cover of of the so-called 'Irish' sun today?

Visiting German matchgoers, not knowing any better, might see it in a newagent and assume that this rag reflects the view of the average Irish person of the nation of Germany when of course, nothing could be further from the truth.

Over the last 10 years or so we have seen the infestation of our newagents by the worst elements of the British gutter press and their acolytes.

No Irish person should buy this paper.

Very True - there ought to be a boycott on this tripe.

Too true...that rag "The Star" was bad enough, now we have a proliferation of these sub-toilet paper idiot manuals. If I hear that fool Ger Colleran again pretending he's a journalist and that his paper is anything but a sensationalist rag read by the lowest common denominator I think I'll napalm their HQ.

Photo of Steve Staunton with a Kaiser-style helmet on his head with some stupid headline along the lines of "Herr come the Krauts!".

I thought they reached a new low with that terribly unfunny muppet thing directed at Staunton and O'Sulivan but I was sadly mistaken.

So they're copying the Euro 96 front page with Gazza and Stuart Pearce?
    Pathetic

For years we smug Irish patted ourselves on the backs for having a better class of press than over the water. But in the last five years, while standards have greatly improved in England, our tabloids have plummeted into the gutter. I still think that Colleran's Star is the worst of the lot ("Stan's Talking ************************e" - which was on the front page - is undoubtedly one of the lowest moments in Irish press history) but this rubbish from the Sun is equally disgusting. The tabloids, along with their fellow travellers in the broadcast media like Joe Duffy, are becoming a national disgrace, and we can only hope that the new press council will be able to rein them in somewhat
