#vinb Wed 22/2/2012: Social exclusion and crime

    Panel
Charlie Flanaghan, FG, TD for Laois-Offaly
    Bríd Smith, ULA, Dublin Councillor

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Flanagan
    http://bridsmith.org/dublin-city-council-news/
    .
<Tv3 must be upset with all those narky comments on last night‘s thread, they 'forgot' to tell me who’s on the panel. Hence, the delay in opening the thread until topic was confirmed on show. N >

Vinny talks to an ex-prisoner about his life in crime, drugs, and violence, what led him to it and his decision to turn his back on it.

And then Vinny asks the panel are all perpertrators of crime beneath contempt or can progressive policy break the vicious circle of social exclusion and crime?

I blame lack of sports facilities in disadvantaged schools.
Its the sort of social exclusion that really kicks off mass murder.

    Vinny outdoig himself this week.
More self-absorbed lefty liberals spouting about equality?
Is he going for some sort of world record for bad tv?

Norm promised last night this would be a cracker.
    Norm was wrong.

tv3 and Vinny too seems to be obsessed with criminals this week. Must be: Be Kind To A Criminal Week or something.

Apart from the few deluded on here! Does anyone actually bother to watch that show anymore?! It's really gone downhill. I'd be interested in seeing the ratings for the show whenever they next come out.

I don't know about Kilkenny but for a substantial minority of Dubliners having the wrong accent virtually guarantees social exclusion for life and the only prosperous career option being crime.
The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.
