    TV3 cancels The Apprentice

I was listening on the radio this morning to one of the business programmes and in their review of the papers one of the items was that TV3 will not be running a new series of The Apprentice. The reason they quoted on air was that they had reached 'the dregs' with applicants! That's a slap in the face to last season's contestants.

When The Apprentice in the US went a bit stale, they reinvigorated it with "The Celebrity Apprentice". It was wonderful, and amazing to see Joan Rivers and her daughter totally lose it on TV. I'd tune in to see, say, Twink and Patricia McKenna on a show like that.

    It was true though.

I tuned out after 20 mins of the second show. Wouldn't have sent any of them to Centra to get cigs and a paper, let alone run a business.

Good. The Apprentice was just another bitchy reality tv show.

It was ************************e, although quite ironic for TV3 to be disparaging the contestants as 'the dregs'. This from the station currently bringing us Tallafornia...

The Irish version of the show was very very poor compared to the BBC and even the American version.
In fact the candidates on BBC's Junior Apprentice were far more professional than the candidates on the Irish Apprentice.

The Irish programme had become progressively worse since the first series.
In the first series at least the candidates for the role showed some common sense and business ability.
In 2008, Brenda Shanahan and Nicky O'Callaghan were far superior to the candidates that appeared in the last two series especially.

The later series seemed to be all about Bill Cullen looking for a sales person.

The Irish version was a piss poor cousin of the UK version. The tasks in the Irish version were built around product placement while the BBC version set its tasks to challenge the contestants.

Most of the Irish tasks were about advertising - a tv ad, a radio ad, a billboard FFS!

Glad to see the back of it.
I care about all sorts of crap.
