I've been here since 2005. The reality is that there have always been racists on this forum, just as there have always been homophobes, anti-semites, republican extremists and other creeps. Interestingly enough, I can think of one or two of the forum's long term "republicans", posters who are well-regarded in some quarters (though not by me) are also among the forum's consistent racists/homophobes/anti-semites, though perhaps their bigotry is expressed in a slyer way than the WN/Stormfront types. Whether there has been an upsurge in racists recently I cannot say, but the forum moderation has always been pretty light, in the interests, I assume, of freedom of expression and the like.
