Carrying the Copenhagen Editorial.

56 newspapers are carrying the Copenhagen editorial and since the lrish Times is amongst them l thought to link the excellent Guardian media/Twitter/Opensource list onto P.ie . Though mostly the IT ignores actual protest in favour of rent-a-crowd face-painted generation Yes Clones : http://www.guardian.co.uk/environmen...enhagen-leader

Proof, if any was needed, that the muesli-eating PC, bien-pensants have taken over. Or at least that's what the Murdoch Empire will be telling us, nay shouting at us, ordering us to believe.

Seriously though, this editorial reads like the bishop's letter from the pulpit. Do ye remember those? I think that newspapers should remember that while their job is important, it's also quite easy. A treaty at Copenhagen is much easier said than done.

Something positive to set against the hysteria of the "nothing is wrong" crowd.

    what a pathethic idea

    Three problems must be seperated

    Polution
    Destruction
    C02

I am not buying the C02 scare

Its pathetic that these editors sheepishly agree to trot with the same questionable mantra

paedo zeal has left the church and moved to the media

    Hyperbolic , demented twaddle

Climate change, caused over centuries, has consequences that will endure for all time and our prospects of taming it will be determined in the next 14 days.
14 days is the deadline or KABOOOM !

But Copenhagen can and must agree the essential elements of a fair and effective deal and, crucially, a firm timetable for turning it into a treaty. Next June’s UN climate meeting in Bonn should be their deadline.
Ah I see they've switched drugs and moved the deadline a few paragraphs later

The science is complex but the facts are clear.
No they are not - would these loons ever lay off the drugs, the above twaddle is contradicted on the very opposite page of the IT:
Public trust in climate science hit by 'Climategate'
Climate change is a complex problem. We will need 50, probably 100 years to resolve it. We will need global co-operation. We will need to spend hundreds of billions of euro. This cannot succeed unless the debate is fair and based on rigorous scientific results that do not hide that there are still many things about which we simply do not have a clue.

You can fool all of the people some of the time, and you can fool some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.

The CRU may have had us fooled for a while.

The transformation will be costly, but many times less than the bill for bailing out global finance – and far less costly than the consequences of doing nothing.
Have they done ANY sums to back the above ?

Doubtless it gave Madame & Fintan great pleasure to even be considered alongside their pinup, the Guardian, and for next week they'll be taking craps in their deskside bins (convinced that their poos don't stink)... however in the real world we can recognize this editorial as the most dementedly hyperbolic , self contradicting piece of drug-addled twaddle excreted from the Editorial pages of the IT in a long time.

This type of hyped up , facted down hallucinatory nonsense does nothing to convince me that the IT, or the folks in Copenhagen , are the right people to deal with Climate Change
