Should we have a telethon for the flood victims?

Every year the BBC manages to hold a TV telethon, either Children in need or Comic releif.

This year Children in need managed to raise just over 20 million pounds sterling to help children throughout the UK.

With the floods causing so much travesty and loss for so many people up and down the nation this Christmas will be awful for them.

As a nation we should demand that our national broadcaster hold a telethon to raise money to help the victims of the Irish floods.

With the Budget this year hitting some of the poorest people in Ireland it will surely hurt these families who have already lost everything.

I have already emailed RTE asking for them to consider this. I e-mailed on the link below.

There's absolutely no chance, none at all, that this thread is going to end up as a big 'charity begins at home'-fest, lots of oozing resentment that we give money to foreigners at all? No, I'm sure that's not what's going to happen, that'd be such a dull thing to happen....

Divert some of the cash from the stupid people tax to the flood victims, ie the lotto proceeds.
Or some of our foreign aid money as toxic suggests....
