New York Times paywall is not going to work because they syndicate their content to tons of other papers that have their stuff available for free anyway.

The Kerryman newspaper has switched its website to pay-per-view - stalking horse for a group-wide paywall by Independent Newspapers?

editorial policy can be problematic in these circumstances, I know journos who pass on notes cos they know
that the editor would never approve- thus the market-led stuff is letting lots of juicy stuff down the plughole.

People should really have a broad choice, hence interesting blogs; and sites like this.

mostly using tools like Twitter and FB draws a large audience also to the blogs, which is kinda nice, I
note a lot of Irish concerns don't do this at all BUT lots of UK and EU papers do!

The Indo group are doing that for all their local papers. The UK Times/Sunday Times is going pay per view in June.
