Ronan Mullen and Fergus Finlay on Newstalk's Saturday Edition

On Brendan O'Briens' early morning Saturday Edition you could cut the tension with a knife between the pair of them. We all know the tension in the Seanad between Mullen and Ivana Bacik but it seems to run much deeper through the urban liberal Labour wing. It got very tense rather than heated between them (i.e. no coming to blows a la Ganley and de Rossa) but the disdain from Finlay towards Mullen came right through the airwaves. A fly on the wall of that studio would have a story to tell after Brendan cut it short by going to a break. The parting words from Mullen to Finlay were "I love you too (not)". After the break it resumed with just Finlay and O'Brien having a bit of a joke.

Finlay seemed to be offended by Mullen very easily, it was over being interrupted - like Finlay never did that on the airwaves himself. But he then launched into an attack on Mullen saying that he never listens what other people have to say etc. There was clearly some underlying issue between them that appears to go beyond ideological differences.

    yeah caught this myself.

    very "handbags at dawn"

he got VERY snippy over the interuptions but TBH they were nothing to what went on with the lisbon lot. there was never a point where you couldnt understand what either bloke was saying so i dont get what he was on about (unless they were knocking off his mike without telling us)

theres definelty something up though and this ended up being one of the most amusing exchanges in ages. petty in the extreme

the show should be repeated circa 10pm tonight IIRC for those that want to catch it.

Is Ronan Mullen theNUI Independent Senator with the 'traditional' label.
Fergus Finlay In his Barnardo's correctly identifies the many areas of childrens rights that are neglected. It never seems to strike him as odd that we waste so much money on excessive public service salaries, reward of underperformers and wholesale waste. His 'left' constituency never wants to recognise this or tackle it.

Is it any wonder that children come at the end of the list while everyone else lines their pockets and that there is no money left for basic provision in so many areas relating to children?

The cake is only so big.
