Meath coco - bungling and ineptitude of the highest order.

Surely somebody has to get sacked for this, the rate payers are going to get nailed to the floor to pay for these clowns.

Although only a symptom of the incompetence in the majority of councils. Under no circumstances should fg give these cowboys revenue generating powers without complete and total rationalisation and reform.

    Good thread for discussion.
From what I heard in the report this incompetence was at the level of several senior figures in Meath Co Co and cannot be blamed on one individual.
The ratepayers and people of meath who will suffer from diminished services need to demand accountability and explanation.

In any case, hopefully it will not be too long before the number of councils is significantly reduced.

No-one will get sacked. They will skunk around in their offices and give out about the judge, scratch their ar$es, make more tea and coffee, play solitaire, look up their facebook/bebo pages, read the paper on the internet, bitch about the judge, point the finger of blame everywhere, particularly at the developers, blah blah blah......

Did I mention bitching about the judge???

No surprises here. This is the Co Co that kept development levy cheques it received from developers in a drawer rather than lodge then in a bank account.....

Agreed. Heads should roll but it won't happen. It's the worst sin of the public sector.

Feel sorry for the builders, sold a turkey then dragged through the courts and already in receivership anyway. The whole episode must have cost those lads a few grey hairs.
The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.

Indeed fair play to the builder, this is typical of the attitude i have seen from a no. of govt dept, they will drag people through the courts regardless of the merits on the basis that a dept can outspend any ordinary individual, if public servants risked being sacked for fighting clear injustices in arse covering exercises we would have a far better country.

Meath Co Co got €4.5 million for a piece of land worth €500,000

Its only right that it be repaid.

They at least got interest on the €4.5 million.

Council staff should be promoted not sacked
