Danish Court to decide on Lisbon Treaty

The Danish Eastern High Court is hearing arguments as to whether a case brought by 38 Danes against the Prime and Foreign Ministers for failing to send the EU’s Lisbon Treaty to Referendum, is relevant. Irrespective of whether the Court finds in favour of either party, both sides have said they will appeal to the Supreme Court if the court finds against them.

A court case is unlikely to be heard in the Eastern High Court on the core issue of the case until 2011 – provided that an eventual appeal in the Supreme Court finds the case to be relevant

You can always rely on the Danes, fair play to them. How much better off are they now since they rejected Maastricht? One of the few European economies that never hit a meaningful recession. Did they get kicked out of Europe for voting no? Or get left behind with all the FDI pulling out over night because they said no?

We should take a leaf out of their book and stop being Europe's Biatch

I doubt they'd go as far as Germany did. Of course, if they try and succeed, Germany won't be very happy about their new control over the EU being challenged...

    The Treaty of Elysee

    Hi,

It seems no one has read The Treaty of Elysee which shows that The EEC of its day which has morphed without democratic vote to become The EU is no more a Union than a bad marriage.

The Treaty was signed by only France & Germany as the axis powers and was signed both secularly and clerically first at The Elysee Palace & Then on the High Altar steps of Rheims Cathedral - an all but unique importance was granted thuis to the document.

The document enshrined in it that Germany & France and their respective ministers would meet together and would decide what was in their interest and that would be allowed on the agenda of The IGC of the sham union!

Ireland is a mere pawn in this power game for The New World Order in a 'post democratic' era - hence The EU has been happy to befoul democracy with a second vote - they have no belief in democracy as is shown by the centralised control excercised by Ireland's masters.

The EU has absolute contempt for the people of Ireland and such organisations as Intel support The EU in return for huge and profitable orders and grants - though having spent Irish tax payers' money on advertising for The EU organisations like Intel will be only too happy to relocate, as did Dell, when the Grants run dry.

The simplest of corporate searches will show you that Intel is to host countries as was an asp to Nephertiti!

The Treaty of Elysee is quite short and you can read it at:

Two other treaties of worthy note are the Treaty of Paris (1951) and Treaty instituting the European Defence Community (1952).

They don't fit very neatly into that NWO conspiracy theory, though.

    Hi,

sorry I do not contribute to conspiracy theories - however when they are backed with facts one is a fool to discount them too readily ;-)

I did read almost all the European treaties some years ago - Do you have URLs for these two?

Paragraph 20 (2) of the Danish Constitution reads as follows:

    (2) For the enactment of a Bill dealing with the above, a majority of five-sixths of the members of the Folketing shall be required. If this majority is not obtained, whereas the majority required for the passing of ordinary Bills is obtained, and if the Government maintains it, the Bill shall be submitted to the electorate for approval or rejection in accordance with the rules for referenda laid down in section 42.

Denmark's Folketing voted 90-25 in favour of adopting the treaty, thus it would seem from a cursory calculation that the Folketing required a majority of 96 to secure a five-sixths majority not to refer Lisbon to a referendum in Denmark. On that basis the case would appear to have grounds.

    More interesting times ahead.

Assuming there are 125 Members in Total in the Folketing, then 5/6 would be .8333333333%

That would have meant 105 out of 125 having to vote in favour .84%

And that would have suggested a shortfall of 15 required to have voted in favour
