    "Heart of Europe" revelation

There's been a lot of talk in recent referenda about the need for us all to be at the heart of Europe, but very little information has ever been disclosed about the location of the elusive organ.

Alan Titley claims to have solved the mystery in his Irish Times column today. He first identified Kisbér, Hungary, as Europe's navel and was then able to calculate that the heart is located at Żnin, Poland:

Tá léarscáil na hEorpa grinnithe agam go mion agus mo shlaitín tomhais im láimh maille lem chompás agus giob de ribín, agus déanaim amach go bhfuil ceartlár na hEorpa gar go maith do bhaile Kisbéir san Ungáir, agus dá olcas is mar atáimid, ní ball é sin ar mhaith liom sinn a bheith ann.

Ina choinne sin, más croí na hEorpa atá uait, ag glacadh leis go bhfuil an t-orgán sin tamall lastuas den imleacán agus i dtreo na taoibhe clé, is dócha gurbh é Żnin na Polainne croí na hEorpa, áit nach molfainn ach oiread mar mhalairt ar ár gcuid trioblóidí féin.

If he's right - if Żnin really is the heart of Europe - we can expect the flow of migrants from Poland to Ireland to go into reverse as word of the discovery spreads. Doubtless Ryanair will rush to open a new route. With any luck, Brendan Halligan and the rest of his "youth movement" will be on the first flight out.

Someone's going to have to dig out the old Committments script and exchange "Poles" for Blacks".

“There is a deep respect for political processes and democracies. We have had No referendums in other countries as well. It is important to see that every time we have seen that the EU has shown an openness to listen,” he said. “This will not affect the possibility of Ireland to have influence.”

Ryanair in Znin? I doubt it but I am sure Micko would be able to get us to Minsk. Different country I know but sure when you get past Germany, it all sounds the same anyway.

So we all move to Znin if we vote yes, but are banned if we vote no?
