To Support Lisbon2 is to Support Brian Cowen and His Government

Forget about the contents of this Frankenstein of a document. In simple terms: to support the second Lisbon Treaty, is to support Brian Cowen and his cronies in government and in public office.

Simply untrue. Brian Cowen and his government didn't write the document, indeed many of them didnt even read it. It has nothing to do with them.

That is one of the worst arguments. People should consider all the facts and not use it as a referendum on the government, it lowers the importance of it and it lowers the intelligence of the people in this country

In one way I wholly agree with you, it IS one of the worst arguments. I voted 'yes' the last time and had intended doing the same in October, but there's a major dilemma.

I want this crowd of incompetents out of power. Like most people in Ireland, over the last 12 months I've watched things go from bad to worse in the economy. Meanwhile, the people who bear a large part of the responsibility have either kept their posts or been pensioned off with overly-generous lump sums and lucrative pensions. Stories of profligate waste by world-touring Ministers have been in the papers and we're about to be sold down the Swanee in the NAMA-boat.

If I vote 'yes', it's an imprimatur for a lousy Government I've grown to despise.. If I vote 'no' I'm going against my better judgement.

Right now the only way I can think is 'what's bad for FF is good for Ireland'.

And a 'no' vote would be very, very bad for the Government.

Is that why Fine Gael and Labour support a Yes vote?

Martin will just tell the world we are thick, confused or believe the treaty contains clauses forcing pregnant women have abortions so they can be conscripted to fight in a european army to promote gay marriage. So vote no, for whatever reason you want (it's not as if the yes voters are intellectual superiors or more principalled - the biggest yes voters were ff voters).

To the average man on the street, Brian Cowen asking for his 'Yes' vote will almost certainly render a 'No' vote.
