Icelanders oppose EU membership - poll

A new poll shows Icelanders opposed to EU membership by 48.7% to 34.7% in favour. This underlines the fallaciousness of the "Ireland-Iceland" argument in favour of Lisbon. A blow to the yes side, which underlines that an electorate, even in the midst of recession, can see through the scaremongering of the pro-Lisbon and europhile elites. In that context, it offers hope to the no side here in Ireland with respect to Lisbon 2.

Great news, we don't want them in.
Let all there people pay the 5 billion back to the uk and us(netherlands).
    After that we can talk.
Still, even as the investor consensus ravages the euro, it's worth remembering that the same herd instinct not long ago was pronouncing last rites for the dollar. Last year, as China's central bank chief called for a new global currency and Russian central bankers dumped greenbacks to buy euros, many saw the dollar's decline as inevitable. Now, the dollar is riding high, and the euro looks bedraggled.
