French EU Affairs Minister: "no enlargement while the Lisbon Treaty is not in force"

At a press conference yesterday, French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner addressed whether the European Commission could decide on Iceland's application for EU membership before the end of the year. Kouchner and his colleague European Affairs Minister Pierre Lellouche emphasised that Iceland was not being prioritised over the Balkan countries but that its status would facilitate accession negotiations. However, Lellouche added that there should be "no enlargement while the Lisbon Treaty is not in force".

They want to have Turkey in as well. Cant wait until they start coming here with the EU promotion of free movement. Why wouldnt they come here?

If you are a blonde woman or female child, I dare you to walk down the street ALONE if they do come.

I am not a racist, but some cultures need to mature a LOT more before entrance to the EU imho

That being the case another NO vote will bury Turkish accession for good and all. Sounds OK to me.

I presume there was a meeting with the other 26 Foreign ministers before making this statement.
Or do the French get to speak off the cuff for the rest of us now?

Yes indeed. Vote NO to Lisbon.

Enlargement for the sake of enlargement will be the ultimate destruction of our people, nationality and even the EU collossal mess itself.

If your definition of a "racist" is a person who wishes to keep Turkey and its people out of the EU then you should be aware that a large majority of EU "citizens" are "racists".
