Campaign funding restrictions criticised - More kerfuffle & this time from Sutherland

Campaign funding restrictions criticised - The Irish Times - Sat, Jul 25, 2009

THE GOVERNMENT should be able to spend exchequer funding on a campaign to encourage people to back changes it proposes to the Constitution, former EU commissioner, Peter Sutherland has said.

Well you can feck off as far as I'm concerned there Peter ... I have no intention as a contributor towards Tax receipts to happily agree to such funds being utilised towards advocating a Yes vote to Lisbon

Tho of course we did get the "Postcards" recently

Mr. Sutherland went on to state ... “In the event that one side (or part of one side) of a referendum campaign is making claims that cannot be substantiated in fact or in law, it is not unfair to that side, nor is it partial, to conclude that the claim in question is unsubstantiated and to act accordingly by not giving it equal air time. That is what editorial responsibility is all about."

Oh right .... majority air time for the Yes Camp is it ?????? .... yeah .... fine so ...

Sutherland is a right fool, and an opportunist- he's probably only bolstering the yes argument to boost his own financial coffers.
