The Irish Times hits rock bottom

A second Lisbon referendum - The Irish Times - Thu, Jul 09, 2009

A STARK, FRIGHTENING reality exists as the world has changed since the Lisbon Treaty was rejected in a referendum 13 months ago. Now, voters are being given a second chance...

    I could read no more.

Yawn. And the "I hate the Irish Times", "No, I REALLY hate the Irish Times", "No, I DOUBLE-HATE the Irish Times more than either of you" w*nkathon continues. Someday ye lads will grow up and look back, mortified with yourselves.

The IT is actually one of our better print media and is certainly far superior to the muck that exists elsewhere notably within O'Reillys evil empire. However in recent times as highlighted by the Phoenix the malign influence of certain editors and subeditors has taken away from the work of the better journos. Paul Murtagh in particular has displayed notable distaine for the facts particuary when it comes to issues that don't fit in with his right-wing PD corporate view of the world, not to mention the ongoing fixation the paper has with glorifying the British army and the people south of the border who serve in it

Last time I checked, Pravda had been a newspaper that only published material glorifying and eulogising the Soviet Union - and certainly never printed items written by dissenters. How does that square with the amount of op-ed space given by the Times to Joe Higgins, Mary Lou McDonald, Declan Ganley, Richard Greene, and other No campaign leaders?
