push comes to shove id rather we KNEW who were obliged to help than hand carte blanche over to the EU and its ever expansionist nature (politicians STILL wont tell us what the ultimate membership will be) and id perfer we could exercise the clout we have as one of the few european countries that never engaged in empire building to be an impartial go between for the EU and whatever country it gets into conflict with (probably russia) than be compromised by this treaty.

I have no idea what to make of that post. Are you serious? Where did the WW3 comment come from?

FYI the main reason we managed to beat the British was because they had just fought the Great War and were facing similar situations in a number of colonies. They were stretched thin and couldn't keep fighting. We were on the brink of losing too in case you'd forgotten. Had it not been for WW1 the English would most likely have mopped the floor with us.
