The government said at the time that the Treaty had no impact on those issues. They've now negotiated guarantees stating that to be true (a tacit admission that we don't believe the Irish government). If they weren't concerns, then the result will be another No - the only people who would suffer from misidentified concerns is the government.
During my 'wanderings' last time, none of those four "concerns" were dominant. The biggest one was lack of information on the Treaty itself, which was not addressed by the Gov't.
So far, the same slogans are being trotted out, Europe good for us, etc, plus the strong "hints" that the no vote had an effect on the economic collapse and a yes vote will solve it.

Indeed. The government seem to be afraid to address what's in the treaty and have spent quite a lot of their time and our money addressing what's not in it.

Seems like an illogical approach given us know voters are all dumbasses who didn't know what we were voting on.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.....if it is a Yes this time it will be in spite of that inept shower of wasters, not because of them.

You are right they have made no effort to educate people on the Treaty properly. They didn't address the BS peddled in the last referendum in any meaningful way. It's bloody infuriating as a supporter of the Treaty to see their complete inability to speak to the electorate at all.

I believe there's some kind of information campaign? Something about...postcards?

Anyway, if the concerns the guarantees address aren't real concerns, then they will have no effect, and once again the government will have wasted everybody else's time and effort.

I got one today. I read it and read it but couldn't find any information on the Lisbon Treaty.

And dayum, 3000 euro to design THAT?

I know that it's three no votes in my house, but I didn't expect my nephew to crack up laughing that hard when he saw it.

They may not have attempted to squeeze the whole information campaign onto the one postcard, although that would justify the design fee!

It looks like a fairly standard "Government markup" to me, I have to say. A professional design job isn't going to come out at much less than a grand - whether the result is appealing to everyone is a slightly different issue...

    I agree with you.

There is a completely new clause this time proclaiming our 'commitment' to the European Union. They want us to put it in our Constitution. They could tell us why, and what way it could be interpreted, but no, they're off for the Summer or something.

    No thanks.

I agree that this bit seems a bit pointless and vague. Do you have a source for it I could look at? I've been googling it and all the only places I can find any reference to it is on a few blogs scattered about the place. Maybe if it's put into context it may become clearer?

See the thread on it here on P.ie by yours truly - I took the amendments from the Referendum Bill and stitched them into Art 29.4 to see how it would look if the vote was yes.
