To you, and all other YES to Lisbon whores - Stop putting words in my mouth. I know exactly why I voted NO. And its not for the reasons you're telling me I did.
Exactly my point. No reasons given. But it gave you a wet spot, didn't it.

And thanks to other, sane people, you're in line for another one.

And many of the people who voted NO the last time may disregard the loons on both the NO side and the YES side this time round and vote NO, as well as some previous Yes voters....... why?

Because the EU and our sell out, treasonous, so called government are ignoring the will of the majority of the Irish people who voted against this sale of everything their ancestors fought for. (June 2008 = NO to Lisbon, as voiced by the Irish people)

Anyone who has any sense will vote NO and keep voting NO until the EU dictators get the message.

Oh, and I'm voting No as well.

Excellent point, was just about to post something similar when I saw your message.

Regrettably just proves how unrepresentative p.ie has become, facts speak for themselves when you look at the local election poll here vs actual result.

    FF 8.4% vs 25.4%
    FG 25.8% vs 32.2%
    GP 3.7% vs 2.3%
    Ind 5.4% vs 18.0%
    Lab 15.9% vs 14.7%
    SF 30.0% vs 7.4%

FF support under estimated by 17%
FG support under estimated by 6.4%
SF support over estimated by a massive 22.6% which is nearly the same amount FF/FG were underestimated by (23.4%)

We can therefore expect this poll on Lisbon to be just as accurate

If any polling company got the results so wrong they would be out of business.

So you're not voting on the merits of Lisbon itself, and you are ignoring the fact that all democratic political parties support Lisbon. Only SF cynically oppose it, and SF/IRA weren't real gangsters ?

One of the reasons for voting YES is to move beyond the dead generations stuff.

And you're " continued prosperity " came about because Albert Reynolds pulled so many BILLIONS from the EU that there was enough left over from the kleptocrats in Irish government to kick-start prosperity.

And how the hell are you going to judge whether or not , or when, the EU suddenly becomes
" more democratic " ? Immersed in Croatian, German, Danish, politics are you? Are you sure the Irish tail is going to be allowed to wag the EU dog ?

I agree, I was merely putting forward a positive view of FT's negative spin.

Nothing to do with that, we are a small, open economy dependent on exports, therefore we need the EU markets to develop our economy.

Again simple logic in that Lisbon gives additional powers to the European Parliment, and its MEPs are directly elected by the people of Europe. Plus if you knew anything about the way the EU works, you would understand that decisions made based on successful networking and negotations, not on pure mathematical representation.
