Polish/Czech presidents/Tories to "bury" Lisbon Treaty

Second front against Lisbon. From Polish Radio:

British MEP Graham Watson, of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), has accused the Presidents of Poland and the Czech Republic of doing everything possible to ‘bury’ the Lisbon Treaty.

Watson stated that Polish President Lech Kaczynski and Czech President Vaclav Klaus have teamed up with leader of the British conservative party David Cameron to bury the Lisbon Treaty.

David Cameron has already announced in the UK that, if the Conservatives win the next British election and he becomes Prime Minister, Cameron will immediately write out the referendum to ratify the Lisbon Treaty.

“Kaczynski and Klaus are willingly helping him and can postpone the signing of the Treaty,” stated Watson, adding that the three parties – Poland’s Law and Justice, the Czech Republic’s Civic Democratic Party and Cameron’s Conservative Party – are working together closely to create a new conservative fraction in European Parliament.

The head of ALDE, the third largest European Parliament party with 104 MEPs, claims that any referendum for the Treaty that Cameron would organize in the UK would turn out negative and, “meanwhile, not only will the Lisbon Treaty fail but also France and Germany will demand that the UK pull out of the European Union.”

Neither the Polish nor the Czech President have signed the Lisbon Treaty. Kaczynski has shown signs of support for the Treaty and pledged to sign the document if ratified by the Irish. Klaus, however, maintains a stronger stance and declared the Lisbon Treaty ‘dead’ on the day after last year’s negative Irish referendum results.
    Fingers-crossed.

No. I do not think Lisbon II should be buried. It should be covered with garlic, shot with a silver bullet, have a stake driven through it, hung from a tree, pulped, bombed with napalm, then it can be buried in a lime filled pit and a concrete slab laid over it.

Sounds good. Hopefully Poland and the Czechs will hold out until the Cons win the UK GE.

Even if they can't though, I honestly think Lisbon 2 would fail in Ireland again.

The Irish people once again, can save civilisation.

The referendum is the purest form of democracy, yet it is constantly disrespected by the Brussels machine and their Castle Catholic supporters over here. I really can't wait until the British have their say on this. See what the mandarins do then.

Hopes being raised here, but I still remain doubtful.
I know that if the conservatives are elected in time, a referendum will be held, and the British public will reject it by a large majority. Which will effectively kill the Lisbon Treaty (again).
As for the Polish and Czech presidents, do they have much power in delaying signings? Can they really do much more besides rant and rave?
Lastly, our (second) referendum. As it stands right now I really don't know how we'll vote. I don't think we're stupid enough to vote 'yes' based on economic reasons, yet we might have 'yes' if we get certain opt-outs from the treaty. Regardless I think it remains very much up in the air.

The Conservatives are under growing political pressure from UKIP (and unfortunately BNP also) to strengthen their Euroskeptic position. That is why Cameron has had to promise a referendum if elected. It is great that democracy is working in this way at least.

The French, Dutch, Irish, British, Czech, Polish, and others I'm sure, are clearly unhappy about the direction the EU is going. Why is the EU not listening?

Bear in mind this has come from scaremongerer extrordinaire graham watson so add a sprinkling of salt. I had expected post election for the tories to tipteoing backwards from their scepticism but it seems they are serious.
As far as i know it would go like this in the event of an october yes vote.
2 weeks after referendum constitution is amended.
Then legislation to enact the treaty is passed through the oireachtas.
    President signs the treaty.
Treaty flown to rome and given to the italian department of foreign affairs in december.
Polish and Czech primeministers demand their presidents sign.
Cameron promises the cavalry is coming.

    Do they fold or not?

You do realise the contradiction in criticising "castle Catholics" on the one hand and being complimentary of the British on the other??

What I find most odd is that Lisbon was supposed to come into effect last January 1st but the Irish No is the one everyone points to in hindering its ratification, rather conveniently forgetting that Germany have not ratified it yet either 6 months after it was supposedly to come into operation!!

And the Poles should be given back to the Russians
where they rightfully belong. The Irish and British should be excluded from all EU
policy making, and all goods travelling out of Britain and Ireland should be subject to customs control.
