I think this why libertas will fail to do well in the euro elections
All that people care about is jobsIts website only lists a few slogans about opening up the E.U., and it has yet to unveil a manifesto. Apart from his attacks on the E.U.'s democratic deficit, Ganley has little to say about the issues that are most pressing in voters' minds, like jobs, economic recovery, and climate change.
What kind of readership does Time have west of the Shannon I wonder?
It's not aimed at EU residents. It's a fluff piece to give him a higher profile in the US.
The article which was published only yesterday fails to mention that they didn't register in Germany but says they plan to contest in 27 states. Just bad journalism.
Not a very accurate article. Libertas won't be running "candidates from all 27 E.U. member states in this June's European parliamentary elections", not by a long-shot.
It's got Phillipe de Villiers as the head of Hunting, Fishing, Nature and Tradition (CPNT). In reality, he's head of MPF (Mouvement Pour la France).
It doesn't say anything about the calibre of those candidates, a right bunch of Herberts.
It says that "Ganley talks of Libertas winning 70 seats in the 736-member European Parliament" whereas Ganley has talked about a parliament with "over 750 seats".
The Libertas.eu website reckons there are a potential 785 seats to be win by Libertas.
The actual number of seats available in the next European Parliament will be 736.
It also says that the "only E.U.-wide poll, predict09.eu, suggests that Libertas could win a few seats but will fall well short of its stated goal".
It neglects to go into detail on that: predict09.eu suggests that Libertas will be lucky to win two or three seats, if it can form an alliance with the True Finns party. That's a bit more than "well short".
It says nothing on creating jobs or the economy on the libertas website you would think that would be the 1st place ye would put it .
