According to tomorrow's Examiner Declan Ganley has allegedly stated that he will not fight the Lisbon 2 referendum if he fails to win a Euro seat in North-West.

Is that verifiable elsewhere? Strange to say it, if true...
If true, that will deprive the yes side, including peoplekorps/OMM, of an opportunity to smear the no campaign in the way they have smeared DG. There is a clear agenda on the govt side to equate Ganley with the no vote. The reality is that the no vote transcends the left-right spectrum. In that context, OMM/peoplekorps and Dick Roche may secretly want him to win in June.
Sorry, I didn't mean is your report of what's in the Examiner verifiable, I meant is there anyone from Libertas that can verify the truth or otherwise of the Examiner story. If true, it's a strange thing to say in advance, and it could be interpreted as a self-preserving anticipation of looming failure in both (if you were cynical). The Examiner has printed nonsense about Ganley before though..
I just had it confirmed by a reliable source.
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

So the penny's finally dropped.
About time.
It could be a bold gamble to a) garner media coverage where Libertas is not entitled to it under the rules of proportionality whereby Libertas will rank right up there with the Monster Raving Looney Party, Christian Solidarity etc because they have no votes b) entice FF/FG into making the election about Ganley in North-West which he can only benefit from c) to galvanise No voters to swing behind him rather than SF etc or d) maybe the FG poll is right and he is langusihing in low single digits and this is a desperate throw of the dice?
Thats my best guess.
If you are elected an MEP - does it give you immunity from prosecution for the duration of your term?
Not implying anything - just asking out of interest
He said it this evening at an event in the Davenport Hotel.
During the course of the event he also levied a serious allegation at Dick Roche at which point shouts of hearsay where pointed at him from the audience. He basically said that over dinner in the Four Seasons a member of the Czech Government told him that it was Irish Government policy to try and isolate Ireland as much as possible within Europe. When a member of the audience asked him to substantiate this comment (under for instance, a freedom of information request) he retorted "the truth hurts" at which point he really lost the audience. Eventually he even said perhaps Dick Roche wasn't there and he was just going on what the Czech's told him....
