I apologise to the blogging community for my opening post. I genuinely have not been near a TV for the last 3 days. I have heard bits and pieces on the radio and assumed it was a minor incident as everyone was talking about the budget. I now realise that i was totally wrong.

Save yourself some embarrassment and take this thread off, you do those who oppose the Lisbon Treaty a great disservice.

If there is to be a genuine reform of the E.U, I hope there is solidarity principle, one of the few good things in the Lisbon Treaty, if we are not our brothers keepers in times of natural or man made disasters then we have lost the sense of what it is to be human.

What price do you put on giving someone a home, giving them dignity, even saving lives?

The point i was trying to make is that we should help as much as WE CAN, not have someone else decide the amount and nature of the help. That is the point. We are up to our proverbials ourselves.

Some things are above money and politics. In instances like this they should not be a consideration. There will be times when we ourselves may need the help of other Europeans.
