Bizarre scaremongering from ousted czech PM: "At least Ireland has the Sea!"

In pleading with his colleagues not to reject the treaty. The ousted czech PM tried this bizarre scaremongering. In threatening "absolute isolation" for the czech republic he noted that the czechs are landlocked. Whats his point? Is he threatening a trade embargo? Is he threatening troops at the border? I thought our elites were scraping the barrel but this is absolutely bizarre!!!

Is anyone not in "the elite"?

He was obviously pointing out the advantages of free trade and movement of people within the EU. Seriously EuroS, do you ever get tired of hearing the term 'broken record' and yourself being inextricably linked?!?!?

Rufty by rejecting the treaty the treaty of nice continues to apply. So talk of "isolation" is scaremongering as the czech's will remain full members of the EU as it stands today. The comment about ireland at least having sea access is sinister as it implies some sort of blockade.
Seabh i wasnt calling him one of our elites, i am pointing out that this tops even dick roche.

The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.

reading this story I envisage a crazy man being dragged kicking and screaming from his office - "Why don't you listen!! We're all gonna die if we don't ratify the treaty!!!"

He knows full well however that there are members of his own party that would consider pulling out of the EU altogether and that comment was addressed to them which is clear from the article. It was not directed at the people of the Czech Republic or even opposition politicians, merely the members of the Civic Democrats (ODS) that are even more sceptical of the EU than you are.
