Barefaced lisbon lies from prionsias pilate

This has to worth a thread of its own. PP offered completely false arguements for lisbon in response to the czech primeminister admitting lisbon was worse than nice.
1- Energy security. If we are all agreed we can form a collective position on energy security.
2- Climate change. If we are all agreed we can form a collective position on climate change. Lisbon offers 6 aspirational words.
3- Lisbon gives the EU nothing the European community does not already have for collective action on the credit crunch.
4- Recent Wars. If we are all agreed we can form a collective position on foreign and security policy. Lisbon does not change this, unless PP is going to admit to majority voting on F&SP (denied by yes campaigners).
5- Europe rudderless with out lisbon. We have been doing OK under the nice rules for the last 5 years. No crisis.

It seems any new yes campaign is just going to be scaremongering about "consequences" of saying no.

Ireland's sovereignty should not be nailed to a cross.

As exemplified by what recent challenge exactly? The really effective, hamstrung EU responses to the current gas dispute, Georgia, Gaza, the decison-making on the EU's climate and energy package of legislation...

Nice's poxy decision-making provisions are revealed for what they are every time some major issue comes up.
Thanks to the poster who taught me to use the ignore list!

No, it isn't. You don't get a new thread every time someone says something you disagree with.
"Elite - a small superior group; esp one that has a power out of proportion to its size." (Oxford English Dictionary)

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.

What should the EU have done about Georgia that it did not do?

It should not have had to spend the first few days with the Russians refusing to negotiate with the EU as the EU, claiming that nobody had the authority to speak for the EU, and trying to make everyone talk to them separately.

The Treaty of Rome offered only 2 words at 'Regional Development' and we got €50bn out of it.
