Typical trolling. The Irish people will not shut up.

No, it isn't trolling. The post in question was, even by your standards, incredibly dumb. And I presume you've missed the irony in you saying "the Irish people will not shut up" while simultaneously saying they shouldn't be entitled to change their minds?

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.

Something important to bear in mind is that, even if member states get to keep their commissioner, ratification of the Lisbon Treaty means that their right to propose their own commissioner and insist on their choice being accepted through their capacity to veto other member states' choices will be replaced by a right to merely make suggestions about a commissioner with the president having the final say.

They are entitled to do so, but the feeling I am getting on the ground is that the perception that it is foreign pressure forcing us into a second referendum is generating a nationalist backlash against this Treaty that includes many yes voters, including my friend Colm, who was implacable in favour of the Treaty last June and is a convinced Ganley-sceptic. The second referenda on abortion, divorce and PR were not due to foreign-pressure on Ireland. In the absence of a weapon like Enlargement to use as emotional-blackmail, a bigger no vote is likely.

But no one is entitled to have different, even if backed by expert advice, interpretations of the provisions of the Lisbon Treaty and their likely consequences to those of the Yes campaign.

This is a good point. Commissioners are responsible 'for proposing legislation, implementing decisions, upholding the Union's treaties and the general day-to-day running of the Union' so not having a Commissioner is the opposite of what the YES side tried to sell us when telling us we needed to be at the 'Heart of Europe' influencing laws and policys which effect our country.
How are we supposed to be at the 'Heart of Europe' influencing laws and policys which effect our country if we dont' have a Commissioner ? Isnt' being ' at the Heart of Europe' influencing laws and policys supposedly why we are not in EFTA instead ?

    Well if Colm says it!
