Why is Brown continuing to ratify rejected Lisbon Treaty

The Treaty of Lisbon, officially signed by the Heads of the Member States on 13 December 2007, will have to be ratified by each Member State in order for it to come into force. The procedure by which this is done varies from country to country, depending on each Member State’s constitutional system. Why is Gordon 'Franco' Brown continuing to ratify a rejected Lisbon Treaty? "The Lisbon Treaty is dead" - Eamonn Gilmore. Why is Gordon ' Franco' Brown continuing to ignore the wishes of the people of Ireland? Why is he also continuing to ignore the wishes of the people of Britain for a referendum? He has gone back on his word( worthless anyway) for a referendum for the people of Britain. If the Treaty of Lisbon was put to a referendum in Britain, it would be soundly rejected. How can this be democratic what he is doing? How can he criticise Robert Mugabe in the future? At least with other European countries, the views of Ireland don't impact upon them much. I think people in Ireland should contact their friends and relatives in Britain and ask them to lobby ' Gordon 'Franco' Brown to respect the wishes of Irish electorate.

He wants to sneak it through before the Tories get in and wreck the treaty. It's also part of a strategy of pressure on Irish voters. They want to present us with a supposed fait-accompli, where its 26 against 1. They are hoping fear of isolation will get us to vote yes. It isn't going to work on me, in part because it is common knowledge that had this been put to referenda in the other EU states many of them would have rejected it to. It's the elites who are isolated from their peoples.
